Fall 2021 Newsletter

Fall is upon us. A time to prepare for the winter months where more time is spent indoors. Let’s focus on keeping our body’s defenses strong. How do we do that? Let’s look at the various factors that influence our well-being:

  1. Environment
  2. Emotions
  3. Nutrition
  4. Karma
  5. Spirits/Ghosts

According to Grandmaster Fu, the 13th Lineage holder of Emei Qigong, that list of five factors are the leading causes of bodily harm. Let’s examine.

Environment: an example of this could be a gas leak in our home. This deadly gas must be addressed first.

Emotions: Ever walk into a room where the tension could be sliced with a knife? Anger closes our cells down… not open to receive any kind of nourishment… from love, from food, etc.

Nutrition: What we ingest is tremendously important, but as you can see, nutrition falls to number 3 on the list. If we’re eating in a gas-filled room with angry outbursts around us, hard to assimilate those precious nutrients. So, let’s clean up our environment, shake off the negatives (easier said than done, I know), yet attainable. Now, we can focus on healthy, clean foods… fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts & seeds, fresh fertile eggs and if possible fresh, untainted fish.

Dr. Richard Brouse mentioned an interesting study done on vegans (vegetarians who consume no animal products).  At one point in my life,  I was a vegan.  This study was to see how much EFA (essential fatty acids) were in the liver of vegans.  None had greater than 15%.  Here’s the reason why according to Dr. Richard Brouse:  We, humans, are not natural herbivores or carnivores but rather omnivores.

OmegaGuard #22078

The Liver was not designed to convert the alpha linoleic acid (found in hemp seeds, flaxseed etc) to EPA & DHA very well.  Our Liver needs EPA and DHA from animal sources.  Any animal that can run and jump fences to avoid its predator seems to have the conjugated form of linoleic acid that is more easily converted into EPA & DHA in humans. The majority of people fall very short in their capacity to convert linoleic acid into EPA & DHA.  If you would like to read more about Dr.Brouse’s findings, please request ‘Dr. Brouse – Fish oil for the heart’.

Karma: in a nutshell = Karma is the law of cause and effect. Our actions, whether good or bad, have a specific effect upon our life. Karma teaches that as one sows, so must he must reap (eventually) Good actions will produce a good effect on your life, while bad actions will produce a bad effect. There is both pre-natal and post-natal karma.  Do we really know what emotions surrounded our conception, our mother’s pregnancy …that is part of our prenatal karma.  The post-natal is then from birth forward.

Ghosts/Spirits: At one time in our lives, we needed to call upon a Minister who with an ordained Elder, helped to clear a ‘disturbance’ from a basement area. I had not identified this area prior to his arrival.

Let’s now focus on the nutrients that can substantially build healthy defenses for our bodies.

Zinc. Zinc treatment as old as the pyramids (ask for article). Dr. Norm Shealy, Dr. Richard Brouse, Dr. Richard Berger advice to take 60 mg. Zinc daily. Some folks need less and some need even more….only a blood test for a copper:zinc ratio could determine the precise amount.

Dr. Sedlaeek and his colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital aren’t the first to make use of zinc’s ability to quicken the pace of healing. More than 3,000 years ago, the Egyptians used salves containing zinc to speed wound healing (request entire article). Ten foods that provide zinc: lamb, pumpkin seeds, grass-fed beef, chickpeas (garbanzo beans), cocoa powder, cashews, kefir or yogurt, mushrooms, spinach, and chicken.

Zinc gargle: (for sore throat) With a mortar & pestle, crush 10-12 zinc, add to ¼ warm water and gargle as needed. Pour yourself a small teacup of Chewable C and suck on like candy.

D3: D3 is a Hormone; not a Vitamin! Are you at risk? Probably so. Low levels of D3 is the most wide-spread medical problem in the World. Experts in the field suggest a healthy level of D3 is 75 – 125ng/ml.

What’s your level? First get tested. Did you know that individuals with healthy D3 levels if they contracted Covid, their symptoms were minor? If your insurance does not cover this all important test, you may test yourself at home. If interested, email me for info.

Vitamin C: Again, each individual requires a different amount. For some 2,000mg/day is sufficient. For others, 10 gm/daily is needed. Vitamin C is a water-soluble nutrient. Too much, and you’ll experience ‘the runs’—cut back. No harm done.

Probiotics: Gut health is paramount to immune health. 70% of the immune system is in the gut, so clean out those bowels with purified water, herb lax, alfalfa and use probiotics to rebuild.

Energizing Soy Protein: Raw, quality complete protein, always non-GMO. No new cells can be built without protein. Blood sugar cannot be maintained without quality protein. Cells die off daily; what is rebuilding yours?

For healthy skin, nails, hair, and joints BUT NOT FOR VEGETARIANS

Everyone wants to look and feel younger longer. So, Shaklee has created another innovative product to support the youthful health of your cells. It’s called Collagen-9. Although Shaklee is not the first company to produce a collagen supplement, they do have the best and most complete product on the market. The Shaklee Difference is quality you can trust.

What is Collagen?

Collagen is the most abundant naturally occurring protein found in the human body and comprises about 1/3 of all the protein in the body. It is a strong fibrous material that pound-for-pound is stronger than steel but much more flexible. Collagen literally holds the body together by anchoring cells to each other.

Various parts of the body are made of collagen such as cartilage, tendons, ligaments, muscles, and bones. Collagen is essential for healthy hair, skin, nails, joints, bones, and connective tissue. About 75% of our skin is made up of collagen.

As we age, our existing collagen production begins to slow down (as early as your 20s). Over time it gets harder for the body to produce more collagen because of the inability to absorb nutrients as well or to synthesize them efficiently. Common signs are stiff joints, sagging skin, brittle nails, lackluster hair, and wrinkles. Some of the leading causes of collagen damage throughout the body are homocysteine, stress hormones (such as cortisol), free radical damage, and sugar (through the glycation reaction and then from advanced glycation end products – AGEs).

There are at least 28 types of collagen. The most abundant is type I which is found throughout your body. Type III is another found in your skin that decreases with age. So it’s important to have both types I and III in your collagen supplement.

How lt Works

Since collagen needs to be digested, absorbed and assimilated into cells, it is important to understand the process.

Our bodies make it naturally by combining amino acids, but as we age, this ability begins to decline. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and are linked together to make collagen.

For a protein to be biologically complete it must consist of the 9 essential amino acids. They are termed “essential” because they cannot be manufactured by the body and must be provided through the diet. All 9 essential amino acids are required to support protein synthesis, including collagen. Collagen (the ingredient) consists of only 8 essential amino acids and our bodies require 9 to make it biologically complete.

Shaklee’s Collagen-9 contains all the building blocks and precursors necessary to make a biologically available collagen. This superior product consists of 10 g of collagen derived from a grass-fed, pasture-raised bovine source (hydrolyzed collagen types I & III with 8 essential amino acids) plus 1 g of tryptophan from pea protein (providing the missing amino acid). Thus, Shaklee’s Collagen-9 blend provides all 9 essential amino acids.

Easy to Use

Collagen-9 is a convenient unflavored powder and comes in a canister of 20 servings. It is super versatile and easy to add to your daily routine. Mix 2 scoops in your Life Shakes, smoothies or fruit juice. It melts seamlessly into coffee or tea for a creamier texture, and can also be enjoyed in yogurt, oatmeal, or soup.

While there has been a question regarding the efficiency of a liquid collagen supplement being better absorbed, Shaklee has found that timing of absorption is moot. They decided upon the powder form for stability since it will be absorbed to the same extent as a liquid or solid collagen.

Try Shaklee’s new Collagen-9 as a daily booster for the nutritional support you need for healthier skin, hair, nails, and joints. It supplies the complete amino acids and necessary nutrients required to make collagen in your body.

Non-GMO, gluten free, lactose free, and dairy free. No antibiotics. No added hormones. No artificial flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives. Only 45 calories.

“It’s working! I just finished my first canister of Collagen 9. I AM seeing results. The creepy skin on my arms doesn’t sag as much. I’m excited to see what the next canister does, maybe my saggy throat will be good enough to show up in a picture!” – Carol C.

“Love the taste and mixes easily! When Shaklee said they were coming out with an unflavored collagen product, I thought it would taste like the others on the market. It absolutely does not. Even though, it’s unflavored, it has the most pleasant taste. You can’t taste it in anything but if you drink it just with water, it tastes delicious. It mixes easily!! I’m drinking it daily. Excited to see results soon.” – Marie C.

“Mixes well and doesn’t leave any aftertaste like others I have tried.” – Lisa H

“Already see a difference in my nails. Within a week, my nails had grown so much! I also have a couple of finger nails that have had ridges for probably 10+ years….those ridges ae smoothing out! Love the ease and simplicity of this product! I mix it in my breakfast Life Shake” – Becky L C
